Wednesday 9/17, onward to New Hampshire and Mt Washington
Today we traveled across northern New Hampshire to our campsite just outside of North Conway. After getting set up we made a trip into town for lunch and then hit the road for Mt Washington. It was a bit of a scary climb to 6288 ft of elevation as the road was narrow, but the views were spectacular. Mt Washington is the highest peak in the northeast and also known as "Home of the world's worst weather" due to it's extreme winds (in 1932 the highest winds ever recorded by man - 231mph.) and erratic weather. Lucky for us we had relatively clear skies and minimal wind.
