9/12 - Lake Placid Loop
Another chilly morning (44 degrees) but the clear skies and sunshine warmed the day nicely to the low seventies. We headed west toward Lake Placid. The first indication that we were nearing Lake Placid was the sight of the Olympic ski jumps towering above the tree line. The town itself was built to resemble a quaint European alpine village.
From Lake Placid we took a beautiful ride around Lake Saranac and then returned to Lake Placid for lunch and walked around the Olympic complex. We then went on to the Ski jumping complex, where we were able to watch some of the Olympic hopefuls practice.
